Cool off by the Bay

Point Cook Coastal Park

Just 20km southwest of Melbourne, Point Cook Coastal Park is a perfect family picnic spot with beach access, playgrounds, barbecues and shady areas. Explore the mown grass tracks, low-tide shoreline walks, or spot birds at Cheetham Wetlands. Don’t miss the 360° views from The Tower, a wheelchair-accessible 1.5km return walk.

Jawbone Marine Sanctuary

Tucked just west of Williamstown Beach, Jawbone Marine Sanctuary is a hidden gem for nature lovers. This protected 30-hectare sanctuary is home to mangroves, saltmarsh, seagrass beds and rocky reefs. All packed into one compact and fascinating landscape.

Williamstown Beach

Williamstown Beach offers wide sandy shores, lifeguards in summer and great paddle boarding and snorkelling at The Crystals. Facilities include toilets, showers, parklands, dining options, fishing jetties and free weekend beach wheelchair hire - a classic westside seaside escape.

Altona Beach

Altona Beach is a westside favourite for swimming, paddle boarding and kite surfing. Stroll or cycle the Esplanade under Norfolk Pines, enjoy accessible beach matting and Weaver’s Reserve facilities, and grab a beach wheelchair on weekends. With soft sand, calm waters, cafes and barbecues nearby, it’s an easy summer day out.

Werribee South Foreshore

For a more laid-back coastal escape, head to Werribee South. This natural stretch of shoreline is ideal for picnics, fishing, kayaking and dog-friendly swims. With playgrounds, barbecues, a skate park and fish-and-chip stops nearby, it’s an easy summer favourite for families.

Make a Splash

When it’s too hot for the beach, Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre delivers next-level aquatic fun. This award-winning facility features two massive indoor/outdoor waterslides, a 50-metre pool, a kids’ splash park and a relaxed café for refuelling between swims.
