Nicole Chui's photography and embroidery piece, Grassroots Never Dies, Worldwide, is a new commission made in collaboration with the local Melbourne football club Brunswick Zebras FC.
It is an extension of her original project Grassroots Never Dies, which began a year ago during an artist residency at OOF Gallery in North London.
The title is inspired by the community organising behind Chui's own grassroots team, Baes FC, during a challenging period of transition. Ultimately, each work in this series serves as a testament to the difficult yet necessary changes that build a strong foundation for the future of something truly valued. These latest works in this series will debut at The Substation Billboard Gallery.
Opening Night is Thursday 21 May, from 6:00 PM. Join the opening of Nicole Chui's Grassroots Never Dies, Worldwide and Meagan Streader's A Residual Pulse, followed by a screening of Margaret and the Grey Mare in The Substation Main Space at 8:00 PM.
