Celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 Across Melbourne’s West
As NAIDOC Week (5–12 July 2026) approaches, communities across Melbourne’s west are coming together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with a vibrant program of events right across the region.From live performances and storytelling to family-friendly cultural experiences and flag raising ceremonies, there are plenty of ways to connect, learn and celebrate.
Annual Programs
Brimbank NAIDOC Week
This annual celebration brings the community together for a powerful and inclusive program. Taking place on 9 July at Watergardens Shopping Centre, the event features a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome to Country, a multi-generational panel discussion, and live performances.
Families can also enjoy hands-on activities including yarning circles, craft workshops, storytelling and cultural displays, making it a meaningful day for all ages.

Candice Lorrae: Bush Meets the Sea
At the Bowery Theatre, St Albans on 10 July, award-winning First Nations artist Candice Lorrae presents a special NAIDOC Week performance. Drawing on personal and cultural storytelling, this immersive live show combines music, visuals and narrative to create a deeply moving experience.
Arterial - Werribee
A standout event from Wyndham’s program, Arterial (5 July) is a powerful acrobatic performance celebrating the strength and identity of First Nations peoples. At the Wyndham Cultural Centre.
Naomi Diane Acoustic Session
Enjoy live music at the Clocktower Café on 10 July, with an acoustic session celebrating NAIDOC Week through performance.
Wurrtoo: The Wombat Who Fell in Love with the Sky
Taking place on 11 July at the Wyndham Cultural Centre, this musical storytelling experience brings to life a charming First Nations tale for audiences of all ages.

Maribyrnong NAIDOC Family Day
A major community day in Maribyrnong celebrating culture, connection and community through a range of activities and experiences for all ages. 8 July.
The Little Long Walk
The Little Long Walk is a much-loved NAIDOC Week community event in Essendon Fields, bringing together communities and schools to celebrate and learn. Inspired by AFL legend Michael Long’s 2004 walk to raise awareness for First Nations peoples’ rights, the event combines cultural presentations, shared learning and a welcoming morning gathering. 9 July.
Wyndham NAIDOC Week Flag Raising
Held on 7 July at Wyndham Civic Centre, this event includes cultural performances and brings the community together to officially mark NAIDOC Week.

On 9 July at Hobsons Bay Civic Centre in Altona, this event features a performance by the Yarrabah Songline Dancers, highlighting cultural exchange and connection.

On 7 July, Sam Merrifield Library, Moonee Ponds, hosts a dedicated NAIDOC Week program featuring activities and cultural engagement opportunities for the community.
Treaty Information Session
Also at Sam Merrifield Library on 11 July, this session provides an opportunity to learn more about Treaty and its significance.
